Red Eye FAQs

Red eye is a common condition that may require professional attention. You can come in for an eye exam with our optometrist in Smithville, MO Kansas, or one of our nine other locations. At Epic Vision Eye Center, we are committed to helping our patients see clearly. Following are the answers to several questions our optometrist frequently receives regarding red eye treatment.

.

How Can I Clear Red Eyes?

You might be able to clear red eyes on your own using over-the-counter eye drops. If your condition is due to agitation of the eyes, you might be able to clear this up with nothing more than eye drops. If your condition is not responding to eye drops, schedule an appointment with our optometrist.

What Causes Red Eyes?

There are a variety of causes for red eye. This can range from allergies to having the wrong contact lens prescription. If you've been suffering from chronic red eye, our optometrist can help you uncover the root cause of your condition and find a solution that works for you.

Can an Eye Exam Help with Red Eyes?

The best way to get care for your red eye is to come in for an eye exam. An eye exam will allow our eye doctor to determine the root cause of your eye health problems. Eye exams will also allow our optometrist to diagnose and address any serious conditions before they are allowed to progress.

Are Red Eyes Serious?

Red eyes are typically not a serious condition. This is usually caused by an allergy, physical contact with the eyes, or another minor concern. We can typically resolve your condition after just one visit. However, it is important to visit our eye doctor about chronic red eye because that could be a sign of a more serious underlying condition.

When Should You See A Doctor About Red Eyes?

If your red eyes have developed suddenly, it’s good to see a doctor immediately. A sudden change in your vision can signal a much more serious and potentially dangerous medical condition. Our team of optometry professionals can help you get the help you need.
